Dear Colleagues and Students,
This year, Masterson Institute Türkiye has further expanded the work it has carried out over the past 15 years. Dr. Murray Schane and Carolyn Bankston, faculty members of the International Masterson Institute (New York), have joined our institute as senior faculty members. We are also delighted to announce that Dr. Ralph Klein, who developed the theoretical framework of the Schizoid Personality Disorder, will be teaching at our institute as a senior faculty member. Dr. Klein, who has not taken part in any conference over the last 15 years, will honour us by participating in our February conference with two presentations.
The III International Masterson Conference will be held in Istanbul on 13–14 February 2027 in a hybrid format, both in person and online. Many of our presenters will be giving their presentations in person in Istanbul.
The main theme of the III International Masterson Conference will be “Diagnosis and Treatment of Personality Disorders – The Impact of Childhood Trauma on Personality Formation.”
Over two days, the conference brings together clinicians, theorists and educators working with the Masterson Approach and contemporary psychoanalytic theory. Invited speakers from Masterson Institutes and psychoanalytic centres in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Romania will present their clinical work, theoretical perspectives and current research on the self.
The programme covers a broad range of topics, from the developmental, theoretical and clinical dimensions of the schizoid, borderline and narcissistic disorders of the self to the impact of early childhood sexual trauma on personality development and the treatment of disorders of the self accompanied by complex dissociative trauma. The conference will also include a case of severe schizoid disorder of the self, presented by Dr. Meral Aydın and discussed under the supervision of Dr. Ralph Klein.
We look forward to welcoming all our faculty from Türkiye and abroad, as well as specialists, clinicians and students, to our conference.
With warm regards,
Dr. Meral Aydın
Head of Masterson Institute Türkiye
