Dr. Aydın is the President of the Masterson Institute Turkey.

As a faculty member of the International Masterson Institute in New York, Dr. Aydın provides training and supervision in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy: The Masterson Approach for mental health professionals in Turkey.

Dr. Aydın developed Projection-Focused Couples Therapy, an approach grounded in the Masterson Approach that focuses on how object relations theory is reflected in couple dynamics, and provides Couples Therapy training at the Institute on a regular basis every year.

Dr. Aydın completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Üsküdar University with a dissertation titled ‘The Neurobiological Effect of Masterson Approach Psychotherapy in Borderline Personality Disorder’, which explained the effectiveness of Masterson Approach psychotherapy through evidence-based neurobiological findings.

In 2025, Dr. Aydın published the book “A Developmental Approach to Borderline Personality Disorder in the Masterson Approach”, which addresses the developmental antecedents of borderline personality disorder according to the Masterson Approach, together with the therapeutic method developed on that basis, and shows how the theory translates into practice.

Dr. Aydın completed a second master’s degree in the three-year Master’s Program, combining theory and practice, at the Masterson Institute in New York. The master’s thesis project, “A Case Study on the Diagnosis and Treatment Processes of Schizoid Personality Disorder in the Masterson Approach”, examined the developmental antecedents of Schizoid Personality Disorder and, in this context, its clinical manifestations and treatment techniques.

Dr. Aydın completed a master’s degree in “Applied Psychology” at Istanbul Commerce University. The master’s thesis project, “A Developmental Approach to Borderline Personality Disorder in the Masterson Approach”, examined the developmental antecedents of borderline personality disorder and, in this context, its clinical manifestations and treatment techniques. Dr. Aydın completed undergraduate studies in the Department of Psychology at Maltepe University.

For one year, Dr. Aydın received training and group supervision in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy from Dr. Frank Yeomans of the Personality Disorders Institute, headed by Dr. Otto F. Kernberg, and was deemed qualified to practice Transference-Focused Psychotherapy.

Dr. Aydın is a member of the Coalition for an Ethical Psychology.

As a student, Dr. Aydın served as a simultaneous interpreter in the supervision sessions provided by the Masterson Institute, an experience that offered the opportunity to take part in 10 additional supervision sessions each week. Dr. Aydın has also served as a simultaneous interpreter at various psychology conferences.

Together with Muhittin Macit, Dr. Aydın translated the book “Adapting Cognitive Therapy for Depression”, published by Litera Publishing, and continues to translate various articles in the field of psychology.
