In the fifth session of our Reading Group Series, we discussed Kohut's "The Analysis of the Self" through Psychologist Gizem Sözsahibi's analysis. In this book, Kohut, taking the narcissistic transferences as a starting point, developed a new theory that, in its broad outlines, seeks to remain within the framework of classical psychoanalysis. In our session, we examined the transference and countertransference that emerge in therapy with narcissistic structures, as well as the developmental processes involved in the formation of the fragmented self.
