Led by Clinical Psychologist İpek Kerestecioğlu

“A Developmental Approach to Borderline Personality Disorder in the Masterson Approach” - Dr. Meral Aydın

READING ANALYST: Clinical Psychologist İpek Kerestecioğlu

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Masterson Institute Turkey November session will focus on the book “A Developmental Approach to Borderline Personality Disorder in the Masterson Approach” by our Institute President, Dr. Meral Aydın.

This work examines borderline personality disorder—a complex structure that profoundly affects an individual’s emotional world, relationships, and sense of self—within the framework of Dr. James F. Masterson’s developmental approach, offering an in-depth perspective by evaluating the origins of the disorder in light of early childhood experiences and the process of individuation. In A Developmental Approach to Borderline Personality Disorder in the Masterson Approach, Dr. Meral Aydın discusses the developmental precursors of borderline personality disorder according to the Masterson Approach, together with the therapeutic method developed on that basis, showing how theory is reflected in practice. The book conveys the intrapsychic development of borderline personality disorder, how clinicians can reach the inner experience of people diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, how these individuals can be treated, and the fundamental structure of the processes of bringing forth and working with the Real Self. This work is a comprehensive and illuminating resource for anyone interested in clinical work, personality development, psychotherapy, and personality disorders.
